Back In Action

July 31, 2008

I’ve just returned from a wonderful folk-music singing tour of Italy, where we performed in little churches and town-halls.

It was fascinating to examine a different country in terms of it’s attitudes and behaviours on Climate Change. There were hideous crimes like the plastic gloves used to choose fruit in the supermarket, in addition to the already-dreadful plastic bags, and the ugliest recycling bins I’ve ever seen.

But on the other hand, there were cyclists everywhere! And not just porky middle-aged men inspired by the Tour de France, but young mothers popping into town, teenagers flirting and old men slowly but surely peddling their way home from the piazza. Even more than these things, however, they even had a rent-a-bike scheme the tourists!

(Well, you’ve got to work off those extra gelltato-kilos somehow!)
