More Heroes

September 25, 2008

Jarvis Cocker, Martha Wainwright, KT Tunstall, Feist, Marcus Brigstocke, Vanessa Carlton and many more.

All of them are part of the Cape Farewell project, which is taking 40 artists and scientists of all kinds up to the High Arctic. From ceramicists to comedians, musicians to playwrights all these people will be seeing for themselves the massive changes the Arctic is experiencing.

When we talk about a social movement, these people are vital – they create the culture which floats around us like air. Think of Marcus Brigstocke on BBC Radio 4, Feist and her hipster fans or Jonathan Dove (composer) bringing the theme of climate change into one of his award-winning opera productions.

May this group of talented people bring their knowledge, passion and love of the Arctic back to their lives and step up their activism.

We need them.
